Ray: Security is an issue that ranges from the personal situation up to global issues. How on earth is a fella supposed to keep up, to feel safe. Ignoring much of what's going on is an attractive option - if just to reduce the demands of it all. The individual can't fight these threats on every front. Personally, if I can keep muggers off my back when walking down the street - with my stun gun - and catch someone trying to break into my store - with a few surveillance cams - I think I'm doing well.

How To Remove Computer Security Glitches and Error Messages

There’s More to Computer Security than Meets the Eye

Computer Security has reached its zenith as a “fear factor” for our home and business PCs. Do I have the “Right Stuff”? Will it catch all the nasties floating around the ether? How do I know what’s what when it comes to “That which needs eradicating” and “That which eradicates the best.”

Then, on top of that bucket of snakes, there is something even closer to home weighing on your computer’s mind: errors and glitches created by your own computer. Did you realize that simply by using your PC for this and that, trial and error – oh, there it is! All that wear and tear, push and pull that’s been going on as you’ve skilled up, loaded up, arranged and rearranged on your computer, has its consequences…

Those consequences leave you with obsolete device drivers, poorly configured systems and unnecessary overload on your Start Up program - not to mention a host of other incidentals to give the ole PC indigestion.

Moving From Computer Security to Computer Clean Up

It’s time to free up the poor old workhorse. And you can, if you know a little about computer maintenance – say a bit more than “how to empty your internet URL history, your temporary internet file and how to defrag.

But, if you don’t know that… honestly, does it come with the user manual? So, if you don’t know and don’t feel up to learning that end of the bucking bronco, here’s a quick ’n easy way to zoom right through the lot, ridding your computer of problems in one swift execution: try one of the repair options now available as software on the internet. Do a search for Registry Clean Up or PC Clean Up.

DIY Computer Clean Up or Do It The Easy Way

Business Security No Longer the IT Baby

Now that the larger security picture has settled more fully into the mainstream of the business world, IT is no longer the primary arbiter of security issues. This has become a business security issue spreading beyond the confines of the computer. Rethinking who manages what and how security is integrated across the whole has become the new project for business security management and planning.

New Take on Violence, Porn and Rape

"May you live in interesting times." Depending on the circumstances and to whom you say this, it could be taken as a blessing or a curse. For my money, having the freedom and the courage to move beyond the norms of intellectual thought is a boon. It’s where we get our new ideas from and it’s one of the most stimulating things you can do.

Trouble is most folks don’t like it, it’s way out of everyone’s comfort zone and if you aren’t used to that sort of venture, you can freak. Denial kicks in and people start screaming, ‘No!’ and pointing fingers. Yeah, we've all done it.

Well, that still shouldn’t stop the world turning, so here goes. A recent article from The Business Shrink looks at some fledgling research that seems to turn a bunch of assumptions on their heads. Previously, we have believed that the link between violence and things like pornography and rape was a causal relationship. Watch porn, commit rape, watch violence, commit violence, and rape.

Well, hang on to your hats, this research suggests, or raises the question of whether or not that is really or always so. The research suggests that in watching violence movies, potential perpetrators then committed less violent crimes. Were they too wrung out or sated from the make-believe violence to be able to engage in the real thing? Hey, the virtual world comes up trumps.

Then again, some research is suggesting that where pornography is entertaining the male masses, less real world rape is going down. Sated? Exhausted? Not enough time in the day to do both? No one knows yet, or even if the stats stack up. There could be other factors at play that undermine there being any link between these key activities.

But, it’s awfully interesting food for thought, hey? And that's what's so good about jumping intellectual boundaries, you start moving in new directions, even if they aren't the initial ones indicated.

Read for yourself and watch the net for future research and dialogue on this issue over the next few years. Additionally, it does suggest interesting possibilities for offenders and wannabes – doses of a virtual world that leaves them productive citizens? No, just harmless cits in the real world would do.

Why Mental Self-Defense is a Handy Technique

Came across a valuable article that looks at how you can actively control your mental health. That negative self-talk is (insert expletive) and we can sure do without it. But most of us inherit it from out childhood, so, what to do? Identify, remove and replace.

It’s a three-step process to move from constantly nagging at yourself, feeding yourself bad vibes, to shoveling in the good stuff: yeah, you can do it, that’s right, go for it.

And when it comes to your physical well-being, like home security, family security, even personal security? Again, your mental heal comes into play. If you feed yourself a picture of physical incompetence: I can’t stand up for myself, I’m at the mercy of whoever wants to jump me or break into my house – well, what do you think is going to happen? What was it someone said: if you think you can’t do it, you’re probably right.

Do you think this approach is going to set you up securely? Do you think you will be able to prevent some form of theft or attack carrying this attitude around with you? But, don’t dwell on past deficiencies, pick up the ball and set yourself up with some security basics. Again, three steps: realize you don't have what you need, identify what you need, go get it.

For example, your home security. Here you just need a couple of window alarms and door alarms, even a security camera, fake or real. This will put the bad guys on notice. Then, when they size up your property, it can go into the too-hard basket for them, and they’ll move on to find an easier mark. So, you do have what it takes to ensure your own security. You just need to find and use a few helpful tools.

Ergo, a little mental self-defense can go a long way.
